We visited with the Zembrodts on Friday (and ate cheeseburgers!), watched and walked in a parade on Saturday, and took the dog for a spin at the Speedway on Sunday. We worked in the garden, took some naps, and relaxed for about 10 minutes this weekend. Both Chris and Emily ran Sunday morning, though we’re winding down in preparation for next weekend, when we tackle the Mini and Team Sherry all at once. It the meantime, it’s getting harder and harder to get David to come inside. I suppose that’s a good thing (at least we don’t have to watch Cars every single night anymore)

Here comes the parade! Mommy got roped into carrying the lead banner down Virginia Avenue to bring the west side floats together with the east side floats. Trust me, it was very artistic and interpretive and deep and meaningful…and some of it was just plain weird

A neighborhood group from Fountain Square had an entry called “Build a Better Mousetrap”. Apparently they had a problem with mice in their building, so they loaded up all their children (dressed as mice with ears and tails and eyeliner whiskers) onto a “mousetrap” board on wheels, complete with a huge tray of Cheez-its, string cheese, and cans of spray cheese to keep them occupied as they pulled the board down the street

Foam dragon that “walked”. At the end of the parade, this dragon raced after the Chinese dragon and challenged it to a duel. The Chinese dragon handlers weren’t really sure what to do. So they just kept walking. It would have been awesome if they’d only gotten the joke…

Basket-bolive (the basketballs they threw into the martini glasses were decorated as olives that they’d throw to the crowd and have them make free-throws)
