The weekend started out sunny (but cold) as we kidded ourselves into thinking we could work in the garden. Chris did some plowing, but it ended there. Well, we did buy a bag full of seeds, but they’re still in the bag and may not come out for at least another week. Everyone was in good spirits all weekend long, though, so the cold and the rain were manageable. We even took a spur-of-the-moment trip to the Zoo on Sunday and walked through the drizzle to see the animals. David was especially interested in the tigers, the dolphins, the meerkats, and the water in the shark tank. Can’t keep that kid dry for anything…

It was 40 degrees outside so our Easter egg hint was a little chilly, but we stayed warm by bumming around inside, making warm drinks, and giggling. And we watched Cars two or three or eight times

Cappy had been feeling a little down lately as he recuperated from knee surgery, so Emily and David decided to pay him a surprise visit this past weekend. We took an early flight Friday morning and stayed through Sunday afternoon, and may have set the record for Number of Times to Watch Cars in weekend. We had no big plans, nothing scheduled…just good quality family time. We all need that once in a while

We had a great weekend! Fish Fry Friday at church, then lots of running, a birthday party at BounceZone and burrito dinner (from “the chimichanga store”) on Saturday, followed by chocolate chip pancakes, more running, some quality time in the kitchen, and a glorious afternoon walk on Sunday. Spring is in the air, and although we’ve got another week of winer ahead of us, we’re ready to play outside! So much mud, so little time…

Has it been 2000 days of wedded bliss already? I think this past weekend was why people get married and have kids. It’s the smiles and the giggles and the messy faces and the relaxing Saturday evenings and the fun little trips to Conner Prairie and the pool and the cozy dinners and the Friday night out - grown-ups only – (with beer, crepes, and french fries for dinner), and the happy breakfasts and the bit of time to spend on hobbies and with each other… We had a good weekend, and we are really blessed.

Off to a tiring start, the week just kept getting better. There were lots of laughs, a fun Saturday morning trip that the boys took to the Children’s Museum (while Mommy was working) and giggles for the rest of the weekend. We’re all slowly feeling better, and the weather was even warm enough this week that we took two walks! Glorious!

We spent most of the weekend sick and sleeping. Blech. We’re still down to one car (although there’s a loaner VW in the driveway), David spent all day Saturday being pitiful and sad and taking long naps, and Emily was down on Sunday (though she didn’t cry nearly as much). Now we’re waiting for Chris to get sick. It’s only a matter of time.
But we did have some happy moments this weekend. We spent a lot of time reading and snuggling, and that felt pretty good, and we got to see Brea (and her big, beautiful baby belly!) on Friday; she freed up some of our attic space by taking baby stuff and we’re glad to help out. Plus, we watched Lost on Thursday night, for no other reason than I could...

Seriously, it was four (4) degrees over the weekend. We stayed inside for the most part (except for that fun party that Mommy and Daddy got to go to on Saturday night while lovely Rita stayed with David) but didn’t take too many pictures. It was nice to just spend time together before things get crazy, as they’re going to do in the next couple of weeks…

Emily celebrated an important milestone, and per tradition, she decided to get sick. Her official take on the big 3-0: 30 isn’t old in the grand scheme of things, but it’s old if you’re me. The Zembrodts also threw a birthday party for Jake and Toby. Jake’s official take on the big 0-3: More cake! And Toby’s official take on the big 0-1: Pppbbttt. Maybe Emily should listen to the short people more often. And alas, the Colts ended their season in a nail-biting, bad-word-inducing, heart-breaking finale to a good run at the RCA Dome. We’ll still Believe in Blue next season, though, and David will have to have a new jersey by then. In the meantime, what will we ever do with our Sunday afternoons? Bring on the spring…
